Tree App

Ecosystem restoration is gaining momentum and international buy-in as one of our primary responses to climate change and biodiversity loss. Already, millions of new trees are growing all over the world. But until now we’ve been restricted in our ability to monitor and review the success of reforestation projects.

Better ground data will not only enable scientists to better evaluate forest restoration methods, it can also be used as evidence of restoration progress and, in time, could directly translate into payments for ecosystem services. Unfortunately collecting forestry data is slow and expensive. But what if it was possible to share data on tree growth at the touch of a button?

Ultimately, we hope the Tree App will allow users to share data about the species of the tree, its biomass, the carbon sequestered and a whole host of other tree traits in a matter of seconds and all you need is a smartphone and any card from your wallet.

But first we need your support. In order to finalise the app, we need some training data.

Training data is a learning basis for the computer models that will power the app. The more on-the-ground training data we have, the more accurate the app will be.
