By Arcadia, from Google Play“The Chinese almanac each day: officer, yellow path, 宜 and 忌, and the hours.”
Description by Arcadia Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
Every statement on the screen says where it comes from. RULE means it is worked out from the stems and branches and you can check it by hand. ALMANAC means it is quoted from a named book. NOTE is our own sentence and never pretends to be either.
TODAY
• The Gregorian and the lunar date, the year, month and day pillars (干支)
• The day's officer (建除十二神) with the reason: how many places the day branch stands from the month branch
• The god of the path (黃道 / 黑道) and the rule that puts it there
• 沖 and 煞: the animal the day clashes with and the direction of sha
• The lodge of the day (二十八宿), with its animal and whether the almanac counts it lucky
• The twelve double-hours, each with its stem-branch and its yellow or black god
• Arrows to step a day back or forward
WHAT THE ALMANAC LISTS
• 宜 and 忌 for each of the twelve officers, taken from the imperial treatise on choosing days, 協紀辨方書 (1741), juan 10, never filled in by guesswork
• Where the treatise gives an officer no avoidances, none are shown
• Matters that belong only to the court almanac are shown apart
FIND A DAY
• The next 90 days on which the almanac lists marriage, moving house, opening a business, signing contracts, breaking ground and dozens more under 宜 and not under 忌
• Optionally only yellow path days, and never a day that clashes with your own sign
• Every day found comes with the conditions it met
CALENDAR
• The month in a grid: the lunar day, the officer and a dot for the yellow or black path in every cell
YOUR SIGN
• Enter your birth date and the app checks each day for a clash with your animal
• Born between the Beginning of Spring (立春) and the Lunar New Year? You are shown both years and choose
THE SOLAR MONTH
The almanac's month turns on the solar terms (節), not on the new moon, so the officer repeats on the day a new month begins. The app computes this on your device, and the treatise itself records the repeated day.
LORE
Articles on the twelve officers, the yellow and black path, the solar months, clash and sha, the two new years, reading the hours, and where the lists come from.
OPTIONS
• Day begins at 23:00 (子初) or at midnight
• Hong Kong almanac clock (UTC+8), to compare with a printed 通勝
• Traditional or simplified characters
• A morning reminder, off until you switch it on
• A home-screen widget with the day's officer, 宜, 忌 and clash
Everything is computed on your device. No account, no location, and your birth date never leaves the phone.
