WELCOME TO TURKISH CHESS...
Designed by Sercan Kahraman, this artistic strategy game aims to make classical chess more dynamic and enjoyable while instilling the cultural elements of Turkish history into new generations.
📜 HISTORY & THE ESSENCE OF WAR Europe learned chess from the Turks around the 15th century but gradually altered its names, ruining the game's military essence. By replacing Warrior Horse Archers with 'Knights', Elephants with 'Bishops', the Shah/Leader with a 'King', and the commander-in-chief Vizier with a 'Queen', they turned a military simulation into a game of thrones.
In Turkish history, horses, horse archers, and armies using elephants as armored cavalry hold a massive place. Much like the forgotten, massive "Timur Chess", this project is an effort to return chess to its original roots—the true military genius of the steppes.
⚔️ THE KING FALLS, THE BANNER REMAINS (SUCCESSION SYSTEM) The Turkish army fights to the last drop! Therefore, when the Leader (King) falls, the game does not end. The banner never drops; according to military hierarchy, the highest-ranking surviving commander is instantly chosen as the new Leader. They don the legendary "Oghuz Khagan Helmet" and continue commanding the army. The war rages on until the last soldier!
🎖️ MERIT, RANK & PROMOTION Military hierarchy and merit are essential. A soldier who captures the enemy leader is rewarded with a promotion. However, a Pawn (Er) cannot directly become a Vizier (Queen); upon reaching the final square or capturing the leader, they can only rise to Castle Commander (Rook) or Cavalry (Horse Archer/Elephant). Rise through the ranks step by step to become a true commander!
👑 CONQUEROR'S HAKI & ACTIVE LEADERSHIP With two different scenario options, the Leader ceases to be just a protected figure in the back; they can personally join the battle and checkmate the enemy! When the "Conqueror's Haki" feature is activated, the leader pushes their limits and performs legendary maneuvers on the battlefield.
⏱️ TIME PRESSURE & MODERN PENALTY In a real war, timing, tactical setup, and practicality are vital. When your time runs out in the game, you can choose to fight with the "Classic" penalty where you lose the game completely, or the tension-filled "Modern (Turkish Chess)" penalty where the turn (initiative) instantly passes to the opponent.
🤖 LOCAL AI ENGINE: AKINCI When playing against the computer, you can test your skills up to the Grand Master level with our local and national AI engine, "AKINCI", which features 3 different difficulty levels.
