I downloaded this keyboard for operating Emacs. Modifiers (alt, ctrl, shift) are a must, and custom keys and layouts are a bonus. But until this release, selecting text would change the function of the space bar and escape keys, which interrupted my use of emacs in unexpected ways. That's now resolved! Now my only semi-frequent gripe is that modifiers (alt, ctrl) don't seem to work on already-shifted keys like < and :, but this could just be an emacs problem.

An excellent open-source privacy respecting keyboard. Very useful for typing in specific syntax (e.g. coding). Its UI is very simple to pick up. Unlike other keyboards, many characters can be used without having to navigate away from the main qwerty keyboard. It respects user privacy and does not share/receive any data. As a result of this, it does not support swipe typing or others auto-detect features. It may not suit everyone's style, but depending on my needs, I'll switch between this & gboard.

Recently on my OnePlus Pad when I'm using a Bluetooth keyboard this virtual keyboard pops up anyway, and won't stay down. It also seems like I install the dictionary, but it asked me again to install the dictionary. Is this how it updates the dictionary? If that's so maybe it should just update more discreetly without my involvement. Side note: It would be great if when we add keys (like Esc, Tab, ª, and º) to the layout if we could choose what key they go on.

Plus: "Unexpected Keyboard" has all the buttons required for POSIX apps (such as function or arrow buttons). Minus: Since the last "update", does not follow the option to hide when physical keyboard is used (the software keyboard shows whenever you select some text box, which should not happen when physical keyboards are used).

Yeah, "Unexpected" all right. Seems like a great idea, but overwhelming, bewildering, non-intuitive, radically different approach from any other keyboard I've tried. "Originally designed for programmers using Termux. Now perfect for everyday use." Yeah, not so much on that last part. I'll hang on to it for a while, maybe try again if I find a detailed manual. How the hell do I get a bullet point character? No auto-indent, just the character!?

Galaxy s25, this keyboard absolutely does not support swiping or predicting words in any way. No option to enable it.
