A great idea. Needs a desktop app. Vanish takes the same approach as Start page Search with Google. By tumbling everyone's input together before sending it to the model, your inputs can be anonymized in the noise. This is not a true private AI, but it is a step in the right direction. The pricing is actually very fair as well. My biggest wish is that Vanish also had a desktop application. Please give me a way to use Vanish from my computer as well!

So far, I have only used the Perplexity Sonar engine and the answers are good. What you need to know is they will still be sending some analytics data over to Perplexity and OpenAI to get the answers and improve their models. And as Start page is owned by System1 (a US ad company), your data might not really be private, and it will be compliant with CLOUD act. The only problem with the app is, the bottom of the answers are overlapping with the follow-up questions making end of answers illegible

The free version is absolutely ridiculous. If I counted right I got five prompts. You sure can't get anything done with five prompts. Uninstalled.

I have been using it since the beginning. It was a good AI app to use when searching for information or learning things with the benefit of added privacy until the developers decided to lock up the use of some of the best AI models with a "Pro version" using a subscription model(14.99 monthly, 149.99 yearly). This change came with the recent September update(I think). I guess I'll go find another free and private AI app (if there is another one around on the app store). See ya!.

I don't think it's fair to limit how many times you can talk to the bot before it cuts you off. Especially when that number is six. It'd make more sense if you put a limit on how many pictures it can generate instead.

Doesn't work without a Google account? I installed the app on a device that has Google Play installed, but without me being signed into my Google account. When launching Vanish AI, the Google app instead starts automatically and asks me to sign into my Google account. For a supposedly privacy-focussed app, this seems very weird. I reached out to Start page's support team, but they told me "We are no longer providing individual responses", so the only choice left was to leave a negative review.
