Velis auto brightness aims to provide the best possible brightness experience by using your devices sensors to determine the environment you're in. You have complete control over how much brightness will be applied for any given light condition, from selecting the sensors used to fully customizable brightness graph. This is a replacement for system provided auto-brightness functionality usually found in Settings / Display / Brightness
Features:
- Initial configuration wizard for an easy start - User-selectable sensors: light, proximity, cameras - Brightness presets for every taste and screen - Profiles (save the brightness graph under your own name) - Fully customizable brightness graph to fit your needs or cover your sensor’s faults - Extensive sensitivity adjustments (light change threshold, smoothing times up / down, boost threshold) - Superdimming to make those shades really dark - Excluded apps (will disable Velis Auto Brightness when they are in use) - Launcher widget with on/off button, profile select button and a brightness graph - Tasker / Locale support for many sensor readings and app settings - Convenient in-app store for premium content (some tasker and widget functionality) and developer support - Custom app language - Additional brightness when charging - Only uses sensors when screen is on conserving battery
Tasker plug-in / Locale plug-in: Provides conditions for screen on, calculated light reading, proximity sensor reading, calculated brightness. Exposes many settings to locale / tasker for detailed adjustment from these managers. Some of this functionality is premium content available through in-app purchase.

This file is provided AS IS - without any warranty. The autor will not be liable for any (un)imaginable inconveniences, including, but not limited to your phone frying or your screen starting to shoot launcher widgets at you. :)

Makes my phone screen visible in bright sunlight. It's an awesome app once you figure out how to set the brightness values, the phone screen becomes more than 2x even 3x brighter than the max setting your phone allows! Awesome A+±++

Been using this app for almost 10 years. You can't rely on the internal auto-brightness phones have, in their settings. But you can rely on Velis. Many settings and adjustments to enjoy. Only thing is sometimes the shortcuts at the bottom lose the level of brightness you set them to. You press, and the brightness remains the same when this happens. You then have to reprogram the ones that are defect.

Works well overall, but it's been several times so far the lock screen defaults to max brightness for no good reason (Galaxy S21).
★★★★☆Andrew Y· Sep 10, 2024
Like: settings, manual graph, auto-adjustment of brightness. Dislike: sometimes does not refresh brightness reading, inaccurate in bad light, not bright enough if very bright (under sun), does not use max brightness of screen Suggestion: include button 'Measure brightness now'

DO NOT INSTALL. POP-UP NOTIFICATION SCREEN BLOCKS ALL ACCESS TO YOUR DEVICE. Installed on Sony Xperia hoping to brighten screen for camera. When restarted, large pop-up covered screen. "Velis Auto Brightness Keeps Stopping". It shows buttons for app info or to close app, but when pressed the pop-up refreshes instantly, in less than 1 second, covering screen again. Pop-up can't be minimized, swiped away, or turned off. It completely and permanently disables access to the device. DO NOT USE

Sat to Bright Amoled, but screen is much brighter if the app turned off/disabled/uninstalled.
