Description
WaterNav is unique in that it has been developed so that you can access all date even without an active internet connection. (It works offline once the maps are downloaded)
It monitors your location using the phones inbuilt GPS, giving your precise location on the map. The maps display thousands of continually updated points of interest (such as pubs, shops, vets, diesel, moorings, etc), as well as all the waterway information such as locks, bridges, turning points, etc, and canal closures. It is the essential towpath companions for boaters, ramblers, cyclists, or anyone else enjoying the waterways.
The route planning options and enhanced options are available once you create an account (no charges or obligations) and with options of picking location, searching for a location or using your own current position it provides lots of flexibility. You can also chose journey times, lock delays and speed.
River Canal Rescue members will automatically be granted access to a special RCR interface that will offer exclusive features. RCR members will be able to access their membership details, see their RCR history, log callouts, book services, and request additional works. They will also be able to utilise a new arrival aid system which will allow them to track their engineer in real time.
The WaterNav App is in ongoing development; there are new updates and development of new features and we are resolving issues continually. ( so make sure you regularly update, and let us know if we can make things easier for you)

Took a while to understand the way the app works but now find it invaluable, some of the other reviews are because they possibly did nto realize you have to confirm your pin drop location and then reselect the route planning menu.

Invaluable useful route planner always works for me, shows lots of map details and local facilities. Calculates route time by days and hours, with adjustable lock timings and crusing hours per day. I drop a pin where I am and a pin where I want to go, takes a few seconds on 4g but always works, don't understand the bad reviews. Admittedly clicking back into route planner and scrolling back down to drop a 2nd pin is a bit counterintuitive. Why not just drop two pins in maps whilst there?

Unable to create an account. Saw review from March 2023 with similar issue so avoided using the Done button, but no Create Account button was visible once I had entered my name, email and password

Unusable. Not only is the choice of color (dark blue text on dark gray background) unreadable, but also the map download mechanism doesn't work. After download, you have to select a region, but that selection doesn't do anything. Uninstalled immediately, which is a shame. This app sounded useful.

Unable to load any maps uninstalled app disappointed as the demonstration at Crick looked promising. Tried again and still not allowing access to the maps despite following the instructions. So I am going to uninstall once again and go back to paper maps
