Kodi doesn't support HW decoding? Kodi's playback quality lower than your built-in videoplayer? This is your app.
Main functions: -Device specific optimizations for faster playback. (HiMedia) -Mount SMB or NFS share automatically based on video URL, and start playback. -Stream over HTTP (Every device is supported. May not work for iso files.) -Map Kodi PVR to supported backend channel numbers, and play in external player.
Some explanations:
Mount CIFS or NFS share: ----------------------------------------------- Requires root. Mounts the video's share to /mnt/xbmcwrapper (or any other dir you prefer). You DON'T need busybox or anything else, only kernel support for mounting.
HTTP-Stream: -------------------------- A built-in HTTP server streams the video file from the remote share to your video player. Works on every device. Image file types are not supported by most players. You can also use Kodi's HTTP server if you have Remote Control functionality enabled in Kodi. This may use less memory overall, but it is less compatible with most players.
Map Kodi PVR to supported backend channels: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kodi in some cases uses its own id's for TV channels(the number before their name), you can set how to remap these to backend channel id's to play in external player.
On recent tvheadend and kodi versions, you don't need to map channels. Just select TvHeadend as PVR backend, and set the host, and you are all set.

Hi, I am usign the Wrapper on KODI 18.1 on a Zidoo Z10 Box. It does work very well en uses the external Hardware player of the box. However, lately I have an issue that whenever I start up a Video from inside the KODi GUI, and when I stop the video it kicks me out of KODI to the main ANDROID MAIN HOME screen. Don't know if that's related to the wrapper or to the KODI build ?? Also, I cant seem to find a way to disable the wrapper, is there somewhere a hidden option ? Best Regards BM

I was playing content from sources other than HTTP and needed a player with A-B repeat. The only choices here are VLC and MX Player. MX Player is much more beautiful and way richer in features. But as an external kodi player, it won't play any content other than HTTP. So I needed a solution and this wrapper works perfectly with MX Player (probably with any other player as well). The effort for configuration is minimal. The wrapper does pretty much everything for you, including creating the PCF.xml. It works on both my Shield TV and my tablet. 5 stars all the way.

Useful app for playing movies in android video app instead of with kodi video player, for instance I use this because kodi doesn't handle my VC1 movies well, and the android video app on Sony X930E allows you to change picture settings while watching video whereas kodi stops. One request if the Author of this app reads this, please set a rule for 4K resolution. Right now all my 1080p movies play in the Android video app, but my 4K movie plays by default in Kodi.

Not satisfied Does not work and a complete waste of money. More specifically none of the options would stream a video. After investigating more I came to realize that this program is not even needed and doesn't provide anything worthwhile to BMC. I was able to get BS Player working flawlessly as an external player through BMC without other program. SMB also streams perfectly so not sure why anyone would need path or protocol substitutions. Again I am not sure there would ever be a situation that you program would ever be needed or add any value.

Needs instructions. A lot of settings but i don't know how to set it up. I have vlc and several other media players on the Android box. It will not let me choose which one I want to use. 95 percent of the time I want the video player, but it will not let me select it as the default. The default goes into a loop, and I have to unplug the box and reboot in order to view a video.
