Air Today

Air Today turns air quality into something you can feel. Instead of burying you in numbers, it paints the sky — the entire screen shifts from clear blue to hazy amber to deep red, so you know the moment you open the app whether it's a good day to be outside.

The air quality index is there if you want it. But the real answer is the verdict at the top of the screen: "Great day to be outside" or "Sensitive groups should limit time outdoors." Plain language, no interpretation required.

KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY
Air Today gives you per-activity guidance for the things that actually matter:
• Running and cycling — how hard can you push?
• Walking and outdoor dining — is it pleasant out there?
• Playground time with kids — are the little ones safe?

Each recommendation is time-aware. Morning air is often different from afternoon air, and Air Today accounts for that.

PERSONAL TO YOU
Tell Air Today three quick things during onboarding — asthma or respiratory condition, ozone sensitivity, kids in the household — and recommendations adapt. Verdict copy switches to second-person when it matters.

SEE WHAT'S COMING
A 9-day air quality forecast helps you plan ahead. Going for a long run Saturday? Check Thursday. Planning a party in the park? You'll know days in advance.

ON YOUR WRIST
The Apple Watch app gives you a glanceable verdict + AQI before you head out. Complications for circular, corner, inline, and rectangular faces.

NOTIFICATIONS THAT EARN THEIR PLACE
• Daily verdict at the time you choose
• Threshold alerts when air quality declines at any saved location
• Best-window alert when conditions will be best today
• Wildfire / spike alerts when AQI rises sharply in a short window
Every alert is independently togglable. No spam.

EXPLORE NEARBY STATIONS
A built-in map shows every monitoring station around you, each pinned with a color-coded AQI marker. Tap any pin for that station's reading.

BEAUTIFUL BY DEFAULT
The atmospheric backgrounds aren't decorative. They're the interface. Particles drift faster when wind picks up. Backgrounds tint warm at sunrise and sunset, cool at night.

ACCESSIBLE BY DEFAULT
Reduce Motion respected automatically. A "Reduce Visual Effects" toggle for battery and clarity. Rich VoiceOver labels.

BUILT WITH RESPECT
Air Today is free. There are no ads. There is no tracking. There is no account to create. Your location data stays on your device and is used only to find nearby monitoring stations.

Air quality data is provided by the World Air Quality Index Project (waqi.info) and its global network of monitoring stations.

Made by one person who wanted a better way to decide whether to go for a run.
