APOD - Daily Space

See the universe. Understand its stories.

A remarkable NASA astronomy image. A story worth discovering. APOD brings astronomy, translated explanations, wallpaper tools, and four Home Screen widgets to iPhone and iPad.

READ SPACE STORIES IN YOUR LANGUAGE
Choose a supported translation language in picture details or Settings, then tap Translate to translate the English title and scientific explanation. Switch back to the original whenever you like. Translation is powered by Apple Translate; available languages depend on system support, and first use may require a language download.

DISCOVER SOMETHING REMARKABLE
Browse the latest astronomy images or explore a shuffled selection from the archive. Open an image to read its scientific explanation and see its source and credits.

FIND A DAY THAT MATTERS
Look up the APOD entry published on a birthday, an anniversary, or another date you remember. The archive begins June 16, 1995; available content varies by date, and some entries feature video.

KEEP YOUR OWN LITTLE UNIVERSE
Tap the heart to add a picture to Saved. Build a collection of the stars, planets, and distant worlds you want to return to.

MAKE SPACE YOUR WALLPAPER
Save the source image at its original resolution when available, or compose a crop for your screen. Choose a device ratio, pinch and drag to frame the image, and preview it with Lock Screen and Home Screen guides. Save to Photos, then set your wallpaper in the device's Settings.

FOUR WAYS TO BRING SPACE HOME
• Daily Universe: the latest available astronomy photograph.
• Favorite Frame: a picture you choose in the app.
• On This Day: revisit this date in another year.
• Cosmic Shuffle: discover another image from the archive.
All four widgets support small, medium, and large sizes. Network access and system scheduling affect content updates.

The interface supports multiple languages, including English, Chinese, and Japanese. Astronomy titles and explanations can be translated in supported languages, with the English original always available. New content requires an internet connection; image quality and availability depend on the source.

APOD is an independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by NASA. Image rights belong to their respective owners.

An optional one-time purchase removes feed and banner ads. No subscription. Restore purchases with the same Apple Account.
