Most product scanner apps start with a barcode. That can be convenient, but barcode records may be missing, outdated, region-specific or different from the product in your hand.

Avessia takes a label-first approach. Scan the ingredient list printed on the package and Avessia uses server-side OCR to read the label, match ingredients against a curated database of more than 26,000 personal care and cosmetic ingredients, and generate an evidence-informed product report.
