Beneath: Web Inspector

Beneath shows you how any website is built, on your iPhone and iPad.

Open a page, then read its source three ways: the raw document re-fetched from the server, the live DOM after scripts have run, and a pretty-printed version. Syntax highlighting, line numbers, find with match counts, jump to line, share and save.

A TOUCH-FIRST WEB INSPECTOR

- Elements: browse the live DOM, tap an element on the page to select it, search by CSS selector, XPath or plain text
- Styles: matched rules with their stylesheet and media conditions, computed values, and a box-model diagram
- Console: everything the page logs, with expandable objects, stack traces and tappable DOM nodes
- Network: every request the page made, with type filters, search, status, size and timing
- Storage: cookies including HttpOnly ones, Local and Session Storage, IndexedDB and quota
- Resources: every script, stylesheet, image and font, each openable as source
- Info: status and response headers, redirect chain, meta tags, links, counts, timing and a TLS summary

On iPad the inspector sits beside the page in a resizable column. On iPhone it is a sheet you can drag to any height.

- JSON Formatter: pretty, minified and a collapsible tree, with errors reported by line and column
- Base64: URL-safe alphabet, padding and line-break options, and a hex dump for binary payloads

Beneath has no analytics, no accounts and no servers of its own. The pages you visit and the text you paste are never sent anywhere.
