Description by Patricia Haddad Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
First Chair is for attorneys who are new to practice - first- through third-year associates and newly admitted lawyers building a practice inside firms - a drafting and preparation suite in one app. Unlike a general AI chat, it drafts in the shape of a filing and never lets an authority you have not checked leave your hands unmarked.

THE MARGIN CHECK
The Draft tab opens on your open draft as a drawn page: every filing part, which are drafted and which are missing, and a flag in the margin for each authority you have not yet verified. The figure beside it counts them. Record where and when you checked each one - the official code site, Westlaw, Lexis+, a court rules page - and the flag becomes a check. A citation you verify once is recognised in your later drafts until the check is 90 days old.

DRAFTING STUDIO
Pick your state, the topic and the document - a motion, a proposed order or a court letter - add a few lines of facts, and get an outline split into that document's filing parts with the authorities each part cites. Edit any part yourself.

COPY AND SHARE WITH [VERIFY] MARKERS
Copy a draft as plain text or send it through the share sheet. Every authority you have not verified carries a [VERIFY] marker in the copy, and the first line counts them.

DEPOSITION PREP
Choose the witness - party, non-party, expert or records custodian - and the topic, add the key facts, and get lines of questioning with follow-up prompts and the exhibits to introduce. With Plus, run it live: check off each question, flag follow-ups and mark exhibits as introduced.

FORMS AND LETTERS LIBRARY
18 starter templates - motions to compel, meet-and-confer and preservation letters, proposed orders, notices and more. Each opens in the Studio set to your state, and the ones you use most rise to the top.

THE UNWRITTEN RULES PLAYBOOK
Partner dynamics, billables, firm politics, boundaries and credit: scenarios with tactical steps and a veteran's insight from thirty years inside firms, associate to owner. Log what you tried and how it went, and What's working shows your own tally.

THE VAULT
Every draft, outline, bookmark and private note in one place, with search, and every authority you have verified - where and when.

FREE AND PLUS
Free: 3 drafts and 2 deposition outlines a month, read-only run-sheets, 6 of the 18 templates and the first scenario in each Playbook track, with the Margin Check, copy and share and the Vault. First Chair Plus, an auto-renewing monthly subscription, adds unlimited drafts and outlines, live run-sheets, all 18 templates and all 24 Playbook scenarios. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation; the subscription renews monthly unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, in your Apple Account settings.

Drafts are written with AI as a starting point for a licensed attorney - check every authority and your local rules before filing. First Chair does not give legal advice.
