Iqra is a Quran app for people who want to learn. It is built on one idea: someone who cannot read Arabic should still be able to read, hear and understand the Quran.
WORD BY WORD, NOT JUST VERSE BY VERSE
Tap any word to hear it and see what it means. Play a surah and every word lights up as the reciter reaches it — measured against that reciter's own recording, and all twelve reciters are synced, not only one.
• Transliteration under every word, so you can follow from the first day
• Three ways to read: word by word, translation, or the real Madani mushaf page
• Ibn Kathir's commentary on any verse, and 122 more editions in 34 languages
• Translations in 98 languages, downloaded once and then offline
• Search that finds a verse from a half-remembered phrase, with no connection
LEARN ARABIC FROM ZERO
Fourteen lessons on the Noorani Qaida progression, taught the way it is actually taught: teach, then practise, then a short quiz. The letters, their shapes, the vowels, joining them — and then tajweed, with every rule demonstrated on a real verse instead of described.
MEMORISE THE WAY A HAFIZ DOES
Not one flat pile of due cards. Iqra keeps sabaq (today's new lesson), sabqi (recent, revised every day) and manzil (older, on longer intervals) apart, reviews them in that order, and drops a lapsed verse back a stage rather than punishing you for it. Miss a day and you lose nothing — there is no streak to break.
Each verse goes up five rungs: listen, read along, fill the gaps, from memory, confirm. The app can also listen while you recite and show you which words came out and which were skipped.
LEARN TO PRAY
Wudu and salah, step by step and photographed, in order, with the rak'ah counts for all five prayers, the other prayers, and the questions everybody actually has.
EVERYTHING ELSE
• Duas — Hisn al-Muslim, indexed by what you need in plain words, plus a tasbih counter
• The 99 Names of Allah — all 99 with offline recorded pronunciation, meaning and source verse
• 86 stories — the prophets, the seerah, the companions — with every paragraph cited
• Signs and miracles — 100 entries that name who is claiming what, and print the dispute where there is one
• Hadith, browsable by topic
• Prayer times and a live qibla compass, worked out on your phone
• Reading plans measured by the week rather than the day, so a missed Tuesday never becomes a debt
• Widgets: the next prayer, the verse of the day, carry on reading, verses due
HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS
• No account, no sign-up, nothing to log into
• Nothing is ever locked. Every verse, translation, lesson and story is free, for everyone, forever
• Ads pay for it — two small ones, never on a page you are reading. A subscription removes them and changes nothing else
• Reading, search, duas, prayer times and the qibla all work with no connection
• Recitation is always a human reciter. A synthesised voice is used only for translations and story narration — never for Quranic Arabic — and the app always says which voice you are hearing
• Every story, every hadith and every claim carries its source
