In physics, particularly in electromagnetism, the Lorentz force is the combination of electric and magnetic forces on a point charge due to electromagnetic fields. A particle of charge q moving with velocity v in the presence of an electric field E and a magnetic field B experiences a force.
The Lorentz force is the force applied on a charged particle moving with velocity v perpendicularly into a magnetic field. A positively charged particle will be accelerated in the same direction as the electric field E, but will curve perpendicularly to both the instantaneous velocity vector v and the magnetic field B according to the right-hand rule.
