READ ALOUD, ON YOUR DEVICE
- Scan pages with the document camera, choose a photo or screenshot, open a PDF or text file, or paste text.
- Each word is highlighted as it is spoken, and the text scrolls along, so you can follow.
- Tap any paragraph to start from there. Skip forward or back a paragraph.
- Choose the speed, from slow to twice as fast.
- Keeps reading with the screen locked, with play and pause on the lock screen and your headphones.
- Detects the language and picks a matching voice. Sounds best with Apple's free Premium voices: the app shows you how to download them in Settings.
- Scanned PDFs are recognised too, not just PDFs that already contain text.
- Everything you read is saved in Recent, so you can listen again later.
TRANSLATE AND SUMMARIZE
- Translate a text into another language with Apple's built-in translation (iOS 17.4 or later; works offline once the language is downloaded).
- On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, get a short summary of a long text and listen to it.
