Spender is personal finance tracking that respects your privacy. Instead of uploading your banking data to servers somewhere, everything runs on your iPhone. Professional-grade accounting features without the surveillance.

WHAT YOU GET IN BETA

All features are available for free during the beta period. No paywalls, no premium tiers, just the full app to test and provide feedback on.

THE BASICS

Your transactions get tracked automatically from bank SMS messages, or you can add them manually. The app uses a custom analyzer to read your banking texts and extract the details (requires Shortcuts via iOS 26+). No text ever leaves your phone.

If you don't want SMS automation, manual entry works perfectly, and you can import from CSV files.

ACCOUNTING THAT ACTUALLY WORKS

We built this with double-entry ledger principles because your balances should always be accurate. Track unlimited accounts: savings, checking, credit cards, digital wallets. Set starting balances. Merge duplicates when banks send different formats. Your money, tracked correctly.

ORGANIZED YOUR WAY

Thirteen default categories cover the basics: Food & Dining, Shopping, Transport, Bills & Utilities, Entertainment, Healthcare, Travel, Education, Income, Rent, Investment, Personal Transfer, and Uncategorized. Create more if you need them.

The app learns from your categorization choices and remembers which merchants go where. It's automatic categorization that actually gets better over time.

YOUR DATA, YOUR RULES

Everything processes on your device. Your SMS messages, transaction history, and financial details never hit our servers (we don't have servers). Bank-level privacy without needing to trust a bank.

Import your existing transaction data from CSV, QIF, or OFX files. The column mapping tool automatically detects your file format and lets you choose which column can be associated with which property on the app, meaning you can import almost any excel tracker you are already using. Export everything anytime in the same formats, plus complete XML backups. Your data moves freely in and out.

Backups work two ways: encrypted local files you control, or automatic iCloud sync using your personal iCloud account (we can't access it). Either way, you're covered.

MULTI-CURRENCY SUPPORT

The app handles all currencies with automatic conversion and real-time exchange rates. Works offline with locally saved exchange rates. Set your preferred currency and go.

WHY WE BUILT IT THIS WAY

Most finance apps upload everything to their servers. They analyze your spending, sell insights to advertisers, or get breached and leak your data. We disagreed with that model.

Spender runs entirely on your device. Your SMS messages stay yours. Your transaction history stays private. Your financial behavior isn't monetized. That's the point.

WHAT BETA MEANS

You're testing unfinished software. Expect rough edges. Report bugs. Share what works and what doesn't. Help us make this better before launch.

All features are free during beta. When we launch for real, some will require payment. But if you're testing now, you're shaping what this becomes.

Download the app. Select how you want to start tracking your transaction data. Grant SMS permissions if you're using automation. Start tracking.
