StarCrew Mechanics

StarCrew Mechanics, which is developed by Educational Psychology Service (New Territories West) Section, Education Bureau of Hong Kong SAR, is an interactive edutainment game app designed for schools or organization instructors. Through multi-player vehicle assembly tasks, it strengthens students’ social communication skills and fosters a collaborative team spirit.
The entire design is not a solo effort but a team challenge that requires the seamless integration of ‘Listening, Speaking, and Doing’!


How To Play
• Recommended for groups of 3 and students playing in different career roles:
1. Designer: Owns the vehicle assembly blueprint and is responsible for reviewing it, accurately describes the appearance (e.g., colors, shapes) and category of the required components to his/her teammates
2. Supplier: Manages the component conveyor belt, identifies, and retrieves the correct parts from the inventory based on the Designer’s descriptions
3. Engineer: Follows the Designer’s instructions to assemble the collected components into the correct positions
Game Features
• Edutainment-based Social Training: Students must complete tasks through effective collaboration and communication, mastering skills such as verbal expression, active listening, and following instructions.
• Diverse Level Challenges: Features 9 levels across three difficulty levels: Beginner, Medium, and Hard. Vehicle designs include Cement Mixers, Lightning Racers, Mobile Stage Trucks, and more, catering for diverse learning needs.
• Layered Assembly Mechanism: Vehicles are assembled in three progressive stages—Chassis, Body, and Accessories—systematically testing the team's coordination and synergy.
• Exciting Testing Phase: Once assembly is complete, teams can enter the racetrack for testing. The higher the accuracy compared to the original design, the better the vehicle performance!
• Instructor Reward System: Instructors can grant ‘Turbo Effect Rewards’ based on students’ performance, enhancing interaction, and providing positive reinforcement.
Device Recommendation To achieve optimal gaming experience, it is recommended that each group uses 2 devices (e.g., 2 tablets):
• Device 1: To be used alternately by ‘Supplier’ and ‘Engineer’ to operate, perform material selection and vehicle assembly
• Device 2: To be used by ‘Designer’ to review blueprints
*If only 1 device is available, ‘Designer’ can use the printed version of ‘Assembly Instruction Manual for Designers’ which is available on "SENSE" website to play along with the game app.
