Wax & Pigment

Turn raw pigment into repeatable paint recipes — for oil sticks, tube paint, and watercolor.

Wax & Pigment is a studio formulation app for artists who make their own paint. Build precise pigment recipes with dedicated calculators for oil bars, handmade tube paint, and gum arabic watercolor. Every formula is saved to your personal studio archive so nothing gets lost between batches.

NEW: WATERCOLOR FORMULATION
Formulate gum arabic watercolors from scratch. Set your pigment, pigment load, humectant, preservative, and container size — half pans, full pans, jars, or custom. Get a full ingredient breakdown, estimated yield, and step-by-step mixing guidance, then save the recipe to your archive.

PAINT RECIPE CALCULATORS
• Oil stick & oil bar: dial in pigment, binder, oil, and wax ratios with soft / balanced / firm texture control
• Tube paint: calculate batch weights and estimate tube yield
• Watercolor: full gum arabic formula builder with medium breakdown
• Pigment explorer: Color Index names, oil absorption, opacity, lightfastness, and handling notes
• Medium preview: see each pigment rendered as an oil stick, paint dollop, or watercolor wash

STUDIO ARCHIVE & NOTES
