Comments on 8bit Painter for Android

★★★★★ Eoin Trimble · Mar 3, 2026

I wanted to learn pixel art and prefer my digital art tools to be as simple as possible, so this app is perfect for me. I paid the small price to get rid of ads and it's so worth it. I'm using the app to draw the assets for a game I'm making for my spouse. I love that I can just do it right there on my phone, and it's so easy to import and export. If I had any suggestion it would be the ability to move only a section, not the whole drawing, so I don't have to redraw things. Great work 🩷

I use this app to make pixel patterns for my crochet projects, and it's perfect for that. Compared to apps that are dedicated to crochet tapestry making what makes this good is its simplicity and how easy it is to use, love it !

When I imported my art and checked my albums it showed nothing just a black image

★☆☆☆☆ Werty Membrote · Sep 27, 2025

Welp, sorry for this review but, it was disappointing. Yup, the simplicity is great, interface is nice too, not too advanced but at least it's easy to use. Problem is, I was working with a 192x192 art, and I was almost done JUST FEW PIXELS LEFT and then BOOM! The application crashed for some reason, I opened up the app immediately and there I saw, my art was gone, all effort turned to waste I was genuinely working on that art for at least an hour. You don't know how frustrated I feel right now.
