Description
OpenKeychain helps you communicate more privately and securely. It uses encryption to ensure that your messages can be read only by the people you send them to, others can send you messages that only you can read, and these messages can be digitally signed so the people getting them are sure who sent them. OpenKeychain is based on the well established OpenPGP standard making encryption compatible across your devices and systems. Modern encryption is based on digital “keys”. OpenKeychain stores and manages your keys, and those of the people you communicate with, on your Android smartphone. It also helps you find others’ keys online, and exchange keys. But its most frequent use is in using those keys to encrypt and decrypt messages.

I have been using this app for over a decade now. Not sure why it has a score of 3.9. It deserves a score of 5. Dealing with customers all day, I'm guessing individuals download the app thinking it's something else, having no idea what PGP is, how to use PGP keys, how to encrypt/decrypt files. How it works with Airmail (the best Android email client) is fantastic. Like I said, it's easy to use. It's not buggy. It just works. It deserves 5 STARS!!!

This is a simple and straightforward way to create, and import, PGP keys. You can then use the app to encrypt, decrypt, and verify text and files. It also integrates with other apps to do email encryption. The web of trust model is outdated, however, so I disabled the key synchronization features. I primarily use this app to encrypt and decrypt text and files for chat messages that don't support E2EE. My keys do not include my real life name nor my real life email address.

Worked well the first few months, but now I can't decrypt messages anymore because it's changed my PGP public key without me doing anything, and it's created a separate private key, and even the new one doesn't work for decrypting.

It used to work fine. Until I got a new phone with Android 10, and now it won't import from my clipboard no matter what l. ***UPDATE***I last used this app about a year ago because it just doesn't work. When trying to import a key via copy and paste? It sees it on the gd clipboard but WHEN YOU GO TO OPEN/IMPORT SAID TEXT?? IT JUST SAYS 'CLIPBOARD EMPTY'...not all the time, JUST WHEN ITS VERY IMPORTANT AND YOU NEED IT. 2☆1☆ I would give negative ☆ if I could. Y'all were the best. Now you are trash.

HONEST REVIEW: This app is seriously unreliable. Sometimes decrying doe snot works, sometimes importing keys from files or from clipboard doesn't works. Yesterday, I tried in every possible way to decrypt my file but nothing worked. But today, everything is working perfectly. Even clipboard issue also gone. It happens every week. The App has serious amount of bugs. If you encrypt ur file somehow, There is completely no guarantee that you will decrypt them ever again even if your keys r correct.
