Truly the best Japanese dictionary. I've been using it now for at least 3 years. It contains kanji stroke orders, words labeled with how commonly -used they are, dictionaries focusing on specialized fields, and so on. Clean UI, not beautiful, but dependable and utilitarian. I opted to support the developer with a mere $1.61/mo--and he's putting out new features all the time. Most recent is a (paid) add-on for highlighting and translating text in the wild.

I have been using this dictionary for learning Japanese. But when I update to the newest version update 3.50.28, it's suddenly crashes. It stated that "aedict has been upgraded, it seems that some dictionaries are missing" could you fix this problem?? I have try to reinstall it and can't solve the problem

I'm not sure what's happened with this latest update, but the app is essentially unusable. I had to uninstall and reinstall the app because it wouldn't open, now that it opens the kanji search won't work and just brings up the result of my previous search. Edit: update to fix this issue has forced me to uninstall and reinstall again. The kanji search issue is fixed, but all of this has caused me to lose word lists I've had for over five years.

Such a frustrating app. It's a good dictionary! But more than half the time when you open it, it forces you to watch while it downloads new dictionaries. Several hundred megabytes, usually. So even over a fast connection, you're waiting for a while before you can finally look up that word you were curious about. I wish it would just not block on dictionary updates. (You can try to X out, but that will close the app.) I've struggled with this app for over a year and it's so painful.

When I upgraded to pro it deleted my notepad data. Years of useful data gone because I tried to find a way to transfer my data to my new phone by buying a subscription. I like the product but user data is sacred. C'mon man

Have used it for over 10 years, but now it crashes every time it tries to download the dictionary files, so I cannot use the app.
