Comments on Amazing Marvin: ADHD Planner for Android

I don't often write reviews, but - I've tried all the task apps. I'd given up looking and just used bare bones Google Tasks rather than deal with a premium app that doesn't work for the way I think/plan. Then a friend sent me Marvin (because, see my last name). It's honestly life-changing. It has reduced my mental load/stress 1000% because it's completely customizable, with tons of options but also the option to turn off options. If you need complex setups and are okay tinkering this is THE ONE.

The widget could do with some work - but this service as a whole (website, desktop and app) is Amazing! Best GTD and general task manager I've seen

Blown away by this platform. The Android app is a stripped down version of the full platform, but the web/desktop app is incredible. Hands down the best task management system I've ever used and incredibly customizable while not being overwhelming. Takes some time to set up/learn, but once you do, you're flying.

I wanted to try this app because I'd read that there was a one-off purchase option. Unfortunately, it now seems to be subscription-only. I didn't get far enough to properly test the app itself, so I can't really comment on its features. What frustrated me was deleting my account. The option wasn't available in the mobile app, and I eventually had to use the web app on a desktop to do it. Having basic account management options available only on desktop isn't something that appeals to me.

The app isn't unusable, but it misses much of what makes Marvin a great task management tool by eschewing basic features. The devs are aware, and refreshes are coming according to the roadmap, but progress is very slow. Some very basic features for task management apps, like setting repeating tasks, are unavailable here. If you manage most of your tasks away from a computer and need a good mobile app, definitely look elsewhere. This app has me turning away from Marvin.
