I can tell all of you from first-hand experience I've been using this app for about the last two or three years it works. Yes you do have to unblock your microphone manually to use text to speech but at least you don't have to worry about someone spying on your phone and believe me they do spy on you, I would also recommend a camera blocker as well for your cell phones or tablets there are a few good ones out there.

Used this app for years on my phone and Fire Tablet. No problems. Now also using on Tab S6, and it's, "App Crash x 10" (!). L see the orange dot from the Dots app, indiating the microphone is on. So either this doesn't work on Android 10, or this OS shuts it down. Whatever, have to find a new app!
