Description
Camera Colorimeter uses a back-facing camera as a colorimeter to color calibrate a Windows device running
Communication between Camera Colorimeter and the external device is via Bluetooth.

OPTIONAL REFERENCE WHITE
The accuracy of color readings made by Camera Colorimeter can be improved if it is provided with a reference D65 light source. This is done by placing the back-facing camera over the D65 light source and select "Capture white point" from the menu. See below for how to use sunlight as an approximate reference D65 light source.
Accuracy can best be improved by providing reference sRGB white (D65), red, green and blue primaries. These must be obtained from the same source, at the same brightness settings.
INSTRUCTIONS
Instructions for color calibrating a Windows device is given within the Display Calibration app itself.
It is important that the Camera Colorimeter app must remain active in the foreground. Do not put the device to sleep or start another app otherwise the calibration process will need to be repeated.
Calibration takes about 5 - 10 mins so be sure that both devices have sufficient battery capacity to complete the operation.
BLUETOOTH PAIRING
It is essential to have this Camera Colorimeter app running when pairing your phone with your PC. If you have already paired your devices then please delete and re-create the pairing after running the Camera Colorimeter app.
WINDOWS CONNECTION PERMISSION
Upon connecting this Camera Colorimeter app on your phone and our Display Calibration app on your PC for the first time, Windows will present a dialog box asking for permission to connect the two devices/apps. Please click "Yes".
If you don't see this dialog box and your devices fail to connect, please uninstall and re-install the Display Calibration app on your PC.
LIMITATION
This app calibrates your display to the standard sRGB color space. Wide color spaces are currently not supported.
Due to the limitation of the ICC profiles used by Windows, some displays can not be adequately calibrated. These are typically displays whose colors have been highly tweaked by the manufacturer.
It is essential to adjust the color settings on your display to Standard, sRGB, or 6500K prior to calibration. Please do not select tweaked color settings such as Gaming, Cinema, etc...
APPROXIMATE REFERENCE D65 LIGHT SOURCE
Sunlight at mid-day on a sunny day can be used as an approx. D65 light source, as follows:
- Tape a white piece of paper over the camera lens of device A - Ensure that the piece of paper is in direct sunlight, but do not point the camera directly at the sun - Select "Capture white point" from the menu. - Uncover the camera lens

This is pretty lit, I used it on the demo for the Kindle Fire to calibrate it, and I noticed that there is one image that looks the same as on my already calibrated monitor, so I guess it does something, but the full calibration mode was taking AAAAA to long on step 5, so I just did the color balance one. Cool concept!

Needs to get hdr/wide gamut fixed. But does what it says. But you must calibrate your camera first. Gave me a color profile that visually matched the factory provided one. But this still does not help me tune the hdr side which is the major issue as most "hdr ready" displays don't get their own color profiles (not true hdr but helps things from getting washed out/ eg:sky)

This would have been an amazing app... ... but having the necessary companion software in the dysfunctional Microsoft Store is terrible. I'm even willing to look past, that it's not mentioned on here that the software isn't free. I tried for almost an hour to pay for the software - it's only 2 dollars - but the Microsoft Store just kept asking me to add a profile address even though I had all the billing and profile information filled in on my Microsoft account already. Yeah, no.

SCAM APP - *DO* *NOT* *BUY* - NO REFUNDS ALLOWED ON MS STORE Two dollars would be a fine price if this app worked, but it doesn't, it will rarely connect and will not stay connected. The reason it is free on the Android/Google side and costs money on the Windows/Microsoft side is that the Google Play Store supports refunds and the Microsoft Store does not. Microsoft's products are becoming more and more irrelevant to the average user they must resort to keeping money from scam app devs.

Crashes when starting calibration. Galaxy S8+ with Android Pie. Sucks because I paid for the Windows app which is not refundable. Kinda scammy in that regard

Does not work. Followed all the instructions to pair my phone and pc while the app was running, but it won't detect my phone at all. Utterly useless. Having to work with Microsoft Support now to get a refund of the Windows app.
