Description
This application switches on or off the display's auto brightness setting. It saves the last manually set brightness level in order to return to that level when auto brightness is disabled.
This app is not a widget, so it won't show you the current setting visually, it won't take up extra memory, and it won't bog down your home screen.
Please email the developer with bugs or feedback. Auto Brightness Switch is open source and released under the GPL license. Patches and translations are welcome.
Recent changes: 1.3.0:
- Add support for Android 6 (Marshmallow) runtime permissions. When you run the app, it will prompt you to allow it to edit system settings. This is necessary to change brightness settings.

Does what it says and does it well. Love it. Why android doesn't let you permanently turn off auto brightness is beyond me.

A simple and effective way of turning auto brightness on and off without the time-consuming scroll through system settings. Add it to your app Favorites Tray, and it's just one click to change (2 if you have an app or browser open) instead of 5 swipes/clicks. It's unbelievable this isn't a standard OS feature, at least not in Android 10, it should at least be a selectable shortcut on the slide-down system tray. I would give 5* if app showed at a glance whether auto brightness was on or off.

Brilliant! Works exactly as intended, and supplies missing link that I believe Google Assistant should have had access to already
