Privacy done right tuta is where it's at. They're focused on providing a solid service, not selling it to as many people as possible and funding dubious sponsorships (looking at you proton funding fascists on YouTube, just to get the numbers to go up). They do 1 thing and do it well (email and calendar not trying to be a full office suite and vpn and everything all at once). Go with tuta + mullvad + maybe onlyoffice. Good products sell through solid community

Switched from Gmail/Hotmail due to spam & ads. Tuta Mail has been a refreshing change. The inbox feels clean, private, and reliable (except for notifications !). I love the option to use multiple aliases, which makes it easy to separate things like important from non-important emails. My wishes: To see the total number of emails (not just unread) for easier cleanup. On desktop, the layout could be improved by allowing narrower or minimized side tabs, so the email preview area can be wider.

I am not getting new email notifications. I have to open the app each time to check for new emails. I think it's a basic feature.

App just doesn't work. Sometimes I can click on new email, but it says 'no email selected.' Other times I can't click on it at all and just keep getting error reports. I also have to often refresh the app to see new emails. It worked fine a few months ago. None of the new updates seem to be fixing anything.

With the latest update, Tuta mail app has gone from bad to worse. I am speechless as to why no proper testing was done before this release. When I launched the app, my inbox always display the older email on last year, I have to manually select another folder then back to Inbox folder to view the current year mail. Sometimes no new mail notification pop up, I will have ti manually launch the app to press Reconnect or refresh causing me to miss important new emails.

👎👎👎 The "6 months active account or deactivate" policy for free tier user like myself, is the major factor for me to leave Tuta altogether. My initial thought to use Tutanota was to not over rely on Google's product. Recovering my accounts binded to Tutanota has been hellish, Tuta own customer service isn't much help either, and those who did respond just sent the same message "we can't recover your account" BS💩. There's no point of creating new email with this one.
