Can we dig this weekend, where, and when? Dig Day answers it the moment you open it.
OPEN BEACHES, TODAY
Every Washington beach the Department of Health lists, with its status in plain words: open, closed, or open except for certain clams, and why. Each line says where it came from and when it was last updated. See every one on a map of the shore, drawn beach by beach. Save the beaches you dig, with a button or by pressing and holding one, and they lead Today with their next good low.
RAZOR CLAM DIGS
The coast's razor clam digs from WDFW, tentative or confirmed, with each dig's low tide. Turn on an alert and Dig Day tells you when WDFW confirms or cancels a dig, when a beach you saved closes or reopens, or when one is open with a good low in daylight.
THE DIG WINDOW
Real tides from NOAA's Washington stations. The best digging is one to two hours before low tide, so Dig Day lights that window and counts down to it. Drag along the day and watch the water slide out over the beach. Put the Dig Day widget on your home screen and the next good dig is there without opening the app.
LIMITS FROM THE SOURCE
Daily limits come straight from WDFW's published rules, with the date the app read them: razor clams on the coast, and the other clams on Puget Sound. Where a beach has rules of its own, the app says so and links to the regulations.
FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Dig mode keeps score of your bucket against your limit, a beach bingo card gives the kids something to spot while you dig, and every outing goes into a shore journal. Send a tide postcard from the beach when you're done.
YOUR SHORE LIST
Everything you might spot on a Washington beach, from sea stars to a harbor seal, filling in as you log your digs. Each one says when and where you first saw it, and a few carry one true line from a state or federal source. It only grows. Nothing to earn, nothing to keep up.
NO ACCOUNT, NO ADS
Your location is only used to find the beaches near you. The app never sends it anywhere. There's no account, no ads and no tracking of ours. Tips are optional and change nothing in the app. Dig Day stays free.
Dig Day is not a government app and does not represent any government agency. It uses public data from the Washington State Department of Health (doh.wa.gov/community-and-environment/shellfish/recreational-shellfish), WDFW (wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/shellfishing-regulations/razor-clams) and NOAA tides (tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov). Always check the official regulations and beach status there before you dig.
Recent changes:
Razor clam digs are back on the coast. Today lists each dig WDFW set, with its beach and low tide; open one for the best time to dig, the hour or two before low. Turn on alerts and Dig Day tells you if WDFW cancels a dig or your beach closes. New: the tides come with the app, so they work with no signal on the beach. And a What changed card on Today shows your saved beaches that opened or closed and the digs WDFW listed, confirmed or cancelled in the last day.
