Comments on Downpour for Android

★★★★★ Adam Cole · Nov 22, 2025

This is a very straightforward app. Buy an audiobook and listen to it. It does what it's supposed to do well and consistently. The standout feature is not in the app, though - the ability to download DRM-free MP3s of your purchased audiobooks. This clearly sets Downpour apart from other audiobook services.

★★★★★ Qubert Que · Feb 15, 2025

Great audiobook service, better than audible because they are drm-free books. This means once you buy the book you own it! You can download it, and play it on any app or device you wish.

★☆☆☆☆ Penn P · Feb 17, 2026

Give me actual ownership of the audiobooks I purchase. I don't want to use your app or website to listen to what I've purchased I want to put it in my own library

★☆☆☆☆ Susan Briand · Jun 3, 2026

Just started using Downpour today after receiving a suggestion for finding an audiobook I haven't been able to find elsewhere. Bought said audiobook and now cannot access it because the app keeps giving multiple errors. Ugh.

★☆☆☆☆ Jerr Justicat · Nov 17, 2024

Downpour's App is a complete fecal show, at least on One UI 6. Crashes out every other chapter in spite of the latest fix allegedly addressing it. Oh and spare your sanity by not using this app with a car's Bluetooth. After turning off the radio, Downpour will crash and /forget where it was in the audiobook/. Bit lost at how an audio file player in 2024 can fail this hard. My advice? Buy the books from Downpour, download the e-book audio file, and listen to it with some other audio player.
