Description
Fall of Stalingrad is a turn based strategy game set on the European Eastern Front during the Second World War. From Joni Nuutinen: by a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011. The most recent update: March 2026.
You are in command of the Axis forces when the Soviet Red Army launches Operation Uranus—the encirclement of the German 6th Army located in the Stalingrad Area. The object of the game is to desperately try to hold the collapsing front line and gather enough troops for a counter-strike to free the 6th Army, and then, using the freed forces, control the entire area of the map. Failing that, your score will be the number of turns you managed to hold on before collapsing to zero Victory Points (no cities under your control).
Fair warning: This is not an easy scenario! There are not many uplifting moments during the first half of the game play as the Axis front lines crumble under the pressure on several sectors. But if you manage to hold on to the encirclement successfully, eventually link up with the cut-off forces, and even turn the tide of the whole southern front, you can genuinely feel good about your tactical skillset.
FEATURES:
+ Historical accuracy: Campaign models the historical setup and order-of-battle.
+ Long-lasting: Thanks to a ton of built-in variation and the game's smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience.
+ Smart AI: Instead of just boringly attacking on direct line towards the target, the AI opponent balances between bigger strategic goals and smaller tasks like encircling nearby units or attacking vulnerable supporting units.
+ Settings: Various options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of houses), decide what is drawn on the map, what units types and resources are on/off, and much more.
In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.
Join your fellow strategy gamers in changing the course of the Second World War!

Finally, Stalingrad, the defeat of the Sixth Army, awesome. Can't wait to see some Napoleonic scenarios. Thanks Juuni.

Great wwii strategy game Another excellent conflict-series game. You play as the Germans attempting to rescue the 6th Army. This scenario includes Rumanian and Italian units, bunkers, and leader units.

Another A+ from Joni. This is first defensive game I've played from the series, it didn't disappoint. If you are used to attacking blitzkrieg style it's easy to get discouraged in the beginning as your forces become overwhelmed. However, the interesting strategy in this game is pulling back in such away as to lead the Soviets into a trap by where they are over extended allowing a strong counter-attack. Through their extended supply lines you can then encircle large portions of their spearheads.

Played the anologe board game. This does not start as the board game did. That game, the German army had eighty-five percent of its combat ready divisions on the "DMZ"? This makes the combat unbalanced for any breakthrough, as in its historical progression negates any blitz Grieg action. Can you update it?

I like most of the author's other titles but this one seems imbalanced, or maybe I just don't get how the generals or tactical points are supposed to be used to win.
