Far Out is worth every penny. I got crucial information on my AT section hike such as water sources, distance to destination, etc. The app kept me on trail in some tricky spots. We got warnings from other hikers on things to watch out for (sketchy or low water sources, bear at camp, snake near bear box). The map was downloaded so that I didn't have to worry about cell coverage. Would definitely recommend.

This company doesn't care that their app is putting peoples lives in danger. Companies like this need to be put out of business. This app does not show comments posted across platforms. If you have android you will not see apple comments and vise versa. I tried to talk to the company I sent 13 emails before they finally decided to respond at which time they said there is no problem. They never even looked into it. If you are on trail stop and check for yourself compare cross-platform comments

Appears to be no way to either mark or even temporarily measure a route that isn't on trail. Frequently there are reroutes that it would be helpful to add as a planned route in advance. Or if I want to measure distance off trail to a resupply point, it's best guess how far it will be. Avenza and Gaia both have this feature.
