My absolute favorite app when hiking a trail. I love how easy it is to use and how I can read comments on water sources or find out any relevant information from hikers who have recently been through that area. New trails are becoming available all the time on this app.

I'm currently on a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. This app is a must-have for thru-hikers. They all use it. There's no alternative. There are constant updates from the app, and through comments from users, on water sources, trail hazards, camp sites, towns, hotels/hostels, resupply locations and so on. Also, the maps are downloadable, so there's no need for cell service to use it. Absolute must have.

This app is only good for one thing. Identifying POIs along a rigidly defined trail/route. The trail/route is defined by whatever guide you purchased. It annoys me to no end that this app can't handle planning a custom route where the start and end points are directly on the trail. It can't account for you wanting to plan a route to some refuge/hut not directly what is accepted as that trail, or plan for a rerouting, etc. Also, it's super clunky. I tried to rant more but ran out of characters.

Buggy. Progressively worse year over year. Latest issue: The field to search for waypoints just disappeared. Updated the app. Same issue. Far Out doesn't even list a support email address or anything similar in the app or on their website. They only list it here on the Play store? Typical bug corp playbook. Past solution FO provided is "uninstall and reinstall". Why should I uninstall gigs of data and have to reinstall it?! Especially when I'm in town on an unreliable connection?

Review comments and update your water points and camping spots. You charge an arm and a leg but don't provide many services that aren't provided by the hikers themselves. Comments that are irrelevant or distraction need to be updated.
