FCST – Sky & Sea Forecast

FCST is a weather forecast for pilots and sailors: glider and paraglider pilots, sailors, windsurfers and kiters. It uses a WRF model run daily for Europe (5.4 km grid, ECMWF input) and a detailed mountain-wave model (2 km grid) for southern Poland.

Pick the disciplines you care about – the home screen shows forecasts for exactly those.

GLIDING
• Thermal – thermal strength (w*), usable height, cloudbase, cloud cover, rain and thunderstorm risk.
• Ridge – wind component onto the slope; slope exposure from a terrain model for all of Poland.
• Wave – vertical air motion and wind aloft over the mountains of Europe, on a 2 km grid over southern Poland.
Every 0–100 score comes with the best time window, an hourly chart and a short reason, e.g. "Wave 1.8 m/s at 2000 m".

PARAGLIDING
• Scores for the launch site, not just a point: wind direction and speed at launch, wind up to 600 m, gradient, turbulence and thermals.
• Pilot profile (beginner, intermediate, XC) adjusts the wind limits.
• Warnings of thunderstorms, overdevelopment and strong wind aloft – always free.
• Launch site database built by pilots – add your own.

SAILING
• Wind in knots and Beaufort, gusts, thunderstorm and squall risk.
• Best window on the water for your profile: leisure, sport, windsurf / kite.
