Film Light Meter

Film Light Meter helps you choose exposure settings for a film camera. Use the phone’s ambient light sensor for incident readings, or a camera snapshot’s exposure data for reflected readings, then calculate equivalent ISO, aperture and shutter combinations.

INCIDENT METERING
Read illuminance in lux and exposure value at ISO 100. Adjust calibration by up to ±3 EV in 0.1 EV steps to match a meter you trust. An ambient light sensor is required; if your phone has none, use the camera or enter EV manually.

REFLECTED METERING
Use the optional camera permission to meter a scene. The app reads aperture, shutter speed and ISO from a single snapshot. Photos are not saved to your gallery. Some phones do not report exposure data; in that case use incident metering or the manual calculator. No microphone permission is requested.

EXPOSURE CALCULATOR
Set EV and film speed, choose aperture or shutter priority, and compare equivalent exposures. Add an ND filter from zero to ten stops. Estimate long-exposure reciprocity correction using the included film stock presets. These values are estimates; check the manufacturer’s guidance for important photographs.

LANGUAGE AND FEEDBACK
Choose your language or follow the device language from Settings in the upper-right corner. The interface supports 17 languages. Optional feedback opens a Tally form in the selected language, with basic app information. Photos, exposure readings and calibration values are not attached; email is optional.

Metering and calculations work locally without an account or subscription. Ads and feedback require an internet connection. Where required, advertising privacy choices can be reopened in Settings.

Readings depend on the phone’s sensor and camera and may differ between devices. Calibrate against a reliable meter before critical work. Film names belong to their respective owners.

Recent changes:
Added 17 interface languages with a saved language selector in upper-right Settings. Feedback now opens a localized Tally form with optional technical context. Improved privacy choices and kept existing exposure calculations and calibration.
