Flamenca Strike

Flamenca Strike turns a flamenco tablao into a puzzle board. Beneath the dancer lies a stage of wooden boards, and each one carries a number: how many heel-strikes it can still take before it gives out. Tap a board next to her and she steps onto it, striking once and dropping its count by one. The dance is the solution, and the solution is the dance.

Your goal on every floor is to wear each board down to exactly zero. Not one strike more, not one fewer. A board that still holds a number means the routine is unfinished; a board you can no longer reach means the routine is lost. Because the dancer can only move to a board beside her, the order of her steps is everything, and a single early turn in the wrong direction can strand her in a corner with half the stage untouched.

Some boards are nailed shut. They sit in the middle of your path and refuse the heel entirely, cutting the floor into sections and forcing you to find the one route that threads between them. Later floors add a board marked by a rose: the dance must end there, on its final strike, which means you have to plan backward from the last pose as much as forward from the first.

Fifteen floors carry you from a small open stage, where the pattern reveals itself in a glance, to tight arrangements where every board is counted and every step is spoken for. The difficulty never comes from speed. Nothing rushes you, nothing resets while you think. You can study the numbers for as long as you like, trace a route in your head, and only then begin to tap.

What makes it satisfying is the click of a plan coming together. You see a cluster of twos and a lone three, you work out that the three has to be crossed in the middle of the route rather than at either end, and suddenly the whole floor unlocks. Then the dancer moves through it in one unbroken sequence, each board going quiet under her heel, until the stage is silent and the last count falls to zero.
