GPS NMEA Tether

GPS NMEA Tether turns your Android phone into a wireless Bluetooth GPS source by streaming standard NMEA 0183 sentences over Bluetooth Classic SPP (RFCOMM). Connect to chartplotters, flight computers, head units, handheld radios, or any device that accepts serial GPS input.

YOUR PHONE IS ALREADY A GPS RECEIVER
Modern smartphones have excellent GPS hardware. GPS NMEA Tether unlocks that capability for external devices by broadcasting standard NMEA sentences over Bluetooth Serial Port Profile — the same protocol used by dedicated marine and aviation GPS receivers.

FULL NMEA 0183 SUPPORT
Generates six standard sentence types:
- GGA — Position fix, altitude, satellite count
- RMC — Position, speed, course, date
- VTG — Course and speed over ground
- GSA — Satellite IDs and dilution of precision
- GSV — Satellites in view with signal strength
- ZDA — UTC date and time
All sentences include valid checksums. Supports raw NMEA passthrough when available from Android for maximum fidelity.

INSTRUMENT DASHBOARD
A beautiful cockpit display shows your GPS data in real time:
- Animated Fix Orb with Earth visualization showing fix status and satellite count
- Speed, track, altitude, position, HDOP, and fix age instruments
- Tap position to cycle between coordinate formats (DDM, DD, DMS)
- Pulse animation while acquiring GPS signal

NMEA MONITOR
A built-in console lets you inspect every sentence in real time:
- Color-coded sentence types
- Filter by GGA, RMC, VTG, GSA, GSV, or ZDA
- Live throughput counter
- Copy, search, and export to file

EASY SETUP
A step-by-step connection wizard walks you through permissions, Bluetooth pairing, and listening. Includes a simulated NMEA demo mode so you can verify your client device is parsing correctly before going on the water or in the air.

RUNS IN THE BACKGROUND
GPS NMEA Tether runs as a foreground service, so streaming continues when the screen is off or you switch to other apps. A persistent notification shows connection status, fix quality, and satellite count.

STANDARD SPP UUID
Uses the standard Serial Port Profile UUID (00001101-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB) recognized by virtually all NMEA-compatible marine, aviation, and automotive devices.

Requires Android 9+, GPS hardware, and Bluetooth Classic support.
