This works fine on my devices and the new updates should make it easier for casual users to find their observing targets. Astrophotography is fiddly by nature and this app and the ESTIA scope do a good job at a price well below 'pushbutton' computerized scopes that cost 10x the price or telescope and camera setups that have an incredibly steep learning curve for people new to astrophotography. It's a cheap-ass and easy-ish way to get started, but you will hit its limits if you are ambitious!

I bought a Vaonis ESTIA for the March 2025 eclipses. The partial solar eclipse had clear skies and Gravity worked really well to create a time-lapse movie from the JPEG images I'd manually taken using ESTIA at 1 minute intervals. Using a Pixel 8a, Gravity makes locating and imaging deep sky targets easy, and I've imaged M13, M3, M5, M38, M37, M57, C13 from Bottle 8 location. I wish Vaonis would greatly increase their catalog of deep sky objects (T Cor Bor please?) but otherwise pleased.

In 2024... Waiting for the upgrade. The current Beta version for Android does not have deep sky pointing assistance. Once it does the Testis will be fully functional. Update 2026... Finally, I get the email that the app has the features of should have had when the ESTIA was first released. I got tired of waiting, sold the ESTIA and bought a See star S50. So much better. Good luck Vaonis.

App needs alot of work, I get location not enabled errors when using anything that needs location, in particular planet mode, there is no location option in settings. In the app permissions location is enabled. Not sure why it doesn't work. Also deep sky, I cannot locate objects as in the demos. And while I did get great eclipse photos, I cannot use the app to locate deep sky objects, stacking does not work, no matter where I point it, the image looks the same, even with a star in preview

TL;DR Make sure the Gravity works before you buy ESTIA, if it doesn't find something else. I loved this until the app broke. Unless Vaonis can fix this app the telescope is a useless product. The whole point of this app is the camera feature and that doesn't work. If they can get that working again then I would change my review. As one that was part of the Kickstarter I was excited but have been let down. It has potential, but they need to fix the core parts before adding more features.
