Description
**IMPORTANT** If your phone is not rooted, you need to manually grant the WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission to the app. Detailed instructions on how to do so are provided within the app and in this video https://youtu.be/Rf3WndFgftI
Gray-Switch allows you to conveniently switch your device's display mode between full color and grayscale either using a quick settings tile (Android 7 or newer), a launcher icon, automatically when the battery charge has fallen below a configured value, and/or during a configurable time schedule (e.g. at night time).
If you are running Android 9 (Android P) or newer you don't necessarily need this app. You can also use the built-in Digital Wellbeing/Wind Down setting. However, it does not allow you to exclude applications from grayscale mode nor automatically enables grayscale mode on low battery.
---------------------------------------- Declaration of AccessibilityService-API Usage
The optional feature to exclude certain apps from grayscale mode requires the usage of the AccessibilityService-API. The AccessibilityService-API is only used to determine the ID of current foreground application to automatically enable or disable the grayscale mode. No data is collected.

Really easy to follow instructions, got this thing permanently set up through developer mode in just a couple of minutes. (This is impressive for several reasons. The big one is that I'm NOT tech-savvy. AT ALL. And horrible at following text instructions. This just... Worked for me... Easy!) I'll change my review to 1 star if this thing hacks my phone. But hey. It's gray now!

It works! Two suggestions make the directions easier. Use powershell it's easier. 1. For Cd: show user how to copy file path of platform-tools that contains adb command. 2. Adb command line is incorrect. Instead of adb it's.\adb 3. Make a video to show things are properly done. With all this, you could even put a price tag to your app, and it would do well. Thanks man, I appreciate your work.

Android 11 on Moto G 2021 does not have any built-in grayscale options. This app works great. I especially love that I can selectively enable color in the Camera and Gallery. I am using a text based launcher and this complements it perfectly. Thanks to the detailed video I had no problems changing the permissions setting.

CAUTION! The app let me change my phone to grayscale, but I am unable to change it back even by uninstalling. The only way to switch it back it to follow a long list of instructions including connecting it to a computer, downloading a file, and using coding to give the app more permissions.

You DON'T NEED this app to switch your phone to grayscale. It's an option in the accessibility menu under settings (in my android it is, anyway), which should already be there. This app asks for root permissions to get into your phone and I feel like that's pretty invasive. I would prefer not to grant those.

Enable developer options 1. Go to Settings 2. Tap About phone 3. Tap Build number 7 times to enable Developer options 4. Go back to Settings → open Developer options 5. Scroll to Simulate color space 6. Select Monochromacy → Your screen will now be black and white. You don't need this app...
