This app is perfect for helping you to learn the notes on the guitar fretboard. Not sure it would have been helpful at the very start of my guitar journey but the stage I'm at now I am finding this so useful. If you're only just starting off with guitar, maybe wait until you've learned a few chords and are starting to learn basic music theory and ear training. Learn the note circle and the names of the open strings, and then you're ready for this.

Great app Justin and 5 stars well deserved! One gripe I had was that options to constrain the fretboard or strings (to narrow focus during learning) is not available. I'd like to see this optional feature available as I personally, so to say, learn in 'steps'. Good going Justin!

Unfortunately all worked well but no sound, yes I turned on the sound button but as soon as I left settings & returned the off button had reset itself to off, not sure why so I uninstalled got a refund & thought try again but nope that sound button just wasn't having it, now let see if I get a refund this time. Nope im stuck with a soundless note trainer, not impressed.

Against poor competition this is one of the better training apps, but it needs a significant refresh. I previously used an app called Fretboard Hero which seems to have now disappeared. This was much superior because it had some elements of gamification - e.g. unpicking parts of the fretboard, new guitars etc. Learning notes is quite dull so this really helped! It also had statistics that allowed you to see progress meaningfully. I just can't tell whether I'm improving day to day with this app.

Love what Justin has been doing. But, this app feels incomplete. I would like to see an option to specify a particular string or set of strings. As a beginner, I'm concentrating on learning the E and A string. I am not interested yet in any other strings. Very strange why this hasn't been taken in to consideration.
