Hesitate: App Lock for Focus

Ever open TikTok to post something and lose an hour to doom scrolling? Unlock Instagram to check one message and suddenly it's 2 AM? You don't have a phone addiction problem — you have a mindless habit problem.

Hesitate is not another app lock. It's a focus app that makes you think before you scroll.

🎤 HOW IT WORKS

When you open a locked app, Hesitate asks you to speak a custom phrase out loud before you can continue. Not a PIN. Not a fingerprint. Your voice, your words, out loud.

Set your unlock phrase to something like:
• "I am choosing distraction over my goals"
• "Yes I want to waste the next hour scrolling"
• "I'm an idiot and I know it"

Now try saying that out loud in a quiet office. In a coffee shop. Next to your partner. Most of the time, you won't. You'll close the app and get back to work.

That's the point. Hesitate is a distraction blocker that uses embarrassment and self-awareness — not willpower.

🧠 WHY VOICE FRICTION WORKS

PIN locks and screen time limits become muscle memory in days. You bypass them without thinking. But speaking "I am choosing to waste my time" out loud? That never becomes mindless. Every single time, you confront the choice you're making.

This is why Hesitate works when other app blockers fail. It doesn't block you. It makes you own the decision.

⚡ KEY FEATURES

App Lock with Voice Unlock
Lock any app on your phone. To open it, speak your custom phrase using speech recognition. No PIN, no pattern — just your honest voice.

Custom Unlock Phrases Per App
Set different phrases for different apps. A harsh one for TikTok, a gentle reminder for Twitter, a motivational phrase for that dating app you keep opening.

Smart Session Unlock
Once you unlock an app, it stays unlocked while you use it. No interruptions while you browse. But the moment you switch to another app and come back — you speak again. Every return is an intentional choice.

Schedule Your Focus
Set app locks for specific days and times. Lock social media during work hours (9-5 weekdays) but keep them free on weekends. Your rules, your schedule.

Hard Block Mode
For apps you truly want to avoid — enable hard block. No unlock option. No voice phrase. Just a countdown timer and the discipline to wait. The ultimate screen time control.

Works in the Background
Hesitate monitors app launches using Android's Accessibility Service. It works even when the app is closed. Lock your phone, reboot it, doesn't matter — your locks stay active.

Lightweight & Private
No account required. No data uploaded. No tracking. Your locked apps and phrases are stored locally on your device. Hesitate is a digital wellbeing tool that respects your privacy.

🎯 WHO IS THIS FOR?

• Professionals who lose focus to social media during deep work
• Students who can't stop scrolling when they should be studying
• Entrepreneurs who open "research" apps and end up doom scrolling
• Anyone who has tried screen time limits and failed
• Anyone tired of phone addiction controlling their day

📊 THE RESULTS

Users report checking distracting apps 50-70% less in the first week. Not because they can't open them — because they choose not to. When you have to say "I'm wasting my time" out loud, the choice becomes real.

🔒 NOT A SECURITY APP

Let's be clear: Hesitate is not designed to hide apps or protect sensitive data. It's a productivity tool and focus app. If you want a vault or intruder selfie, look elsewhere. If you want to actually stop scrolling and take back your time — you're in the right place.

Stop scrolling. Start hesitating.
