Comments on Houston Public Library for Android

★★★★★ Weasle Forsythe · Nov 6, 2021

This is a great new version of the library app It lets you easily get where/what you want: research, look through the stacks, get books to read in app or even send to your Kindle... perfect if you can't go to the library! (darn COVID!) I miss hanging out at the library, but I don't have to miss learning and using library services! 🦄🌈☺️

★★★★☆ Emily Robinson · Apr 12, 2023

The app is functional but limited and slow. For instance, you can place holds easily, but it does not give you the status of your hold (in transit, pending, etc.) and you cannot suspend holds. Update:4/12/23 you can now suspend holds in thr app, and it gives you the status of your holds. Upgrading my rating!

★★★★★ Fidel Rodriguez · Jul 31, 2023

This app provides an excellent way to interact with different libraries in your local area, and putting holds on a variety of books of your interest makes it like a wishlist in the making

★☆☆☆☆ Christina Poel · Mar 6, 2023

Doesn't work at all. I keep getting the error message "Unable to connect to server." I am home and connected to my Wi-Fi.

★★☆☆☆ Wendy C. · Apr 1, 2019

Suspended holds really needs to be redone. It does not sync properly with libby - when I click a hold on my account that's suspended, it'll either tell me I can place a hold on it (which I already have) or that I can immediately check it out even though I'm not even next in line per libby. Also wish it would tell you # of days suspended. Would be nice to have the hold statuses improved (in general). I haven't tried placing a hold as I still prefer the older app, more basic and to the point

Whereas the older HPL app installs and works fine on my NOOK tablet, Android 8.1, this newer app does not appear in the installation list at all. Will the old app become "broken" upon discontinuation on 4/1/2019, as per the on-screen note on the old app?
