It is possible to open files from another location However, the devs need to properly fix their implementation so you can navigate outside of the /sdcard folder from within the app itself. I use ES File Explorer and after installing Symphony viewer, I found an .odt document outside of the /sdcard location, which opened immediately with Symphony when I tapped the file in ES File Explorer. This shows they have correctly implemented the file association for .odt documents and .ods spreadsheet files open the same way, but sadly, they have overlooked .odp presentations as no option to open them was available. I gave 4 stars because there are 3 areas that could use improvement, with the third being opening password protected files. There are plenty of other apps to open MS formats, so leave them to it and don't litter this app with that junk. When two of the items above have been fixed, I'll award 5 stars

Almost perfect! This is the best odf viewer I've found so far. It displays odt files without any problems whatsoever. I can even view my ods docs and switch through my tabs/pages within the files! The only real issue I've encountered is when trying to load a file with a comma in the name the app freezes on a black screen and has to be force closed before it can be used again. Also, some special characters aren't displayed properly in my ods docs but I can live with that. All-in-all this is a very handy app to have.

No DropBox Crashes every time I try to open an ods file in my DropBox, so for me it is of no use.

unfortunately... The problem is that it won't open the files I need it to open. It claims 55k and 53k spreadsheet files are too big to open. After the initial installation Symphony did successfully open a 53k spreadsheet but thereafter decided that the same file was too big to open. No settings, no instructions, no Help, so not very useful at all. Too bad.
