Takes a few false starts to update the firmware and connect to Wi-Fi, but once it gets going it works fine. For all those people complaining about it overshooting the mark, you still have to be able to BBQ, this device ain't going to throw cold water over the 3 kg of coals you just overfilled the smoker with. It's your own fault, you don't know how a smoker works. If it's overshooting the mark put a bowl of water in there, again, it ain't going to cool down your coals. Duh.

The app is a really great concept, but I'm routinely checking on the grill because it is constantly losing Wi-Fi connection. On top of that I am unable to update the app, which supposedly will fix the connectivity issue. Using it can be frustrating at times, but it's doable. I've contacted ikamand support multiple times, and they have just stopped replying to my ticket submissions and the store isn't able to do much about it either, so support is garbage. If it wasn't a gift it wouldn't be worth it.

Why do an update that absolutely destroys this device? I have used for over a year with no issues and now since update cannot use. Nice job on killing something that was super helpful in long cooks. Now I own a paper weight.

I just received my Ikamand yesterday, with the hope of using it today (Thanksgiving) to help while I roasted my turkey on my big joe. It has been holding at 5% download of the update for 30 minutes. It is connected foinew to my Wi-Fi network and says it is updating, to no avail. I was hesitant on purchasing this device because of the negative reviews but hoped it would be fixed by now. I have a big cook ()12-14 hour brisket) that will take place overnight for delivery top my office party on December 10. I was hoping IKamand could keep me out of the weather and I could take some naps. Not so happy atm.
