When the BBQ wants to connect it's great, but I spend forever trying to get it to connect, and it is not due to poor internet. Everything else works fine. Even tried the fix of having no more than 15 characters between SSID and password. Still fails constantly. The BBQ is great otherwise, but you need to fix the app control. *Edited - Master built reached out and provided some tips and the BBQ now appears to be connecting correctly the last few times I have used it. Have amended rating accordingly.

TO SOLVE CONNECTION ISSUES: To ensure the app works properly with your Master built Electric Smoker, connect smoker to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Both the SSID and password must be 15 characters or fewer, and the password cannot include special characters. What worked for me: I enabled a 2.4GHz guest network, used a short SSID, and an 11-character password without special characters, totaling 14 characters for both. This solved my connection issues. I have the Master built 710 Electric Smoker.

Useless. The app doesn't work properly it gives me hard times trying just to connect to my smoker. Every time planning to smoke I have to remove the device & re-add again as if a new device, wasting a lot of time and very stressful. Even when finally succeed to connect, it doesn't reflect the actual temp immediately, there's a lag, can't rely on the app, have to go every time check the screen. Makes me wonder what's the use of the Wi-Fi feature in my smoker, it's now same as the regular model.

Look this app is pretty handy when finally starts working. HOWEVER, Bluetooth isn't connecting when the 800 series grill is started and I'm left spending several minutes trying to resolve the issue. Restarting the app. Turning off/on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Turning off the grill after it's already going. Master built provides absolutely ZERO directions on how to solve that because "it's all done through the app" - which it's reliably not. Do better Master built! Expect better Master built.
