If the direct Wi-Fi connection Camera - Cellphone always crashes, it because your cellphone reconnects to your Home Wi-Fi. Set your Wi-Fi cellphone connection "Auto Reconnect" unchecked or add one step "Forget Wi-Fi", these steps make sure your cellphone always connects to the camera.

*Update Q3 2026* It finally works alright on the R5, r50v and c50. Fine. You get 4 stars now. Only because you haven't figured out raw transfer yet. 7 years later changing my 2 star to a 1-star review. Get your life together canon. This is pathetic. I can never consistently pair ANY of our bodies. R50v, c50, c70, c80, 5d iv etc. never works.

The app is locked unless you create an account which means transferring photos from the camera I purchased is locked without an account. Lu mix doesn't do this. Why does Canon? Why do they lock features out on the camera I purchased?

Required to sign in for app to work (canon ID) ; required gps fix for it to register(!!); required chrome app installed for it to register (!!) ... it was a somewhat good app before you made it this bad... zero UX considerations... Redditors advised to try Rupiahs Camera Connect as an alternative, so hopefully it works better :/ (2026, still no change)

This killed my eclipse experience due to forcing me to create an account and then not connecting to my camera via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. This was borderline usable on my eos 77d about 6 mon ago. The Wi-Fi hotspot on the phone likes to randomly quit and if my phones screen turns off the connection dies. If I try to set the camera to connect to my phones' hotspot the app will not work unless the phone connects to a different Wi-Fi access point even though my camera connects just fine to my phone hotspot
