Description
JS8Call remote control, with automatic Maidenhead grid locator calculator. Receiving and sending to JS8Call. Play with JS8 everywhere. Enjoy ham amateur radio.
Before using this app you need to setup JS8Call in Settings -> Reporting:
- UDP server to IP address of your phone/tablet or broadcast IP address of your subnet. If you would like to use multicast, please set UDP server IP in JS8call to 224.0.0.1. Multicast IP is hardcoded at this moment.
- UDP server port to 2242 and power on the js8remote app on a mobile/tablet
If you are using multicast, please tap on the circle icon in top right corner to switch to multicast.
After first PING from JS8call, js8remote will fetch your callsign, operating frequency and messages. You can type in a new message and send it. While PTT is on, you will get information about it and messages will update. Tapping on location icon gets a current location from a device and populates text box area. You can remove some of the chars from the grid locator if you want to send less precise location. Please delete characters in pairs.
Recent changes: - Added Multicast support. Now hardcoded to 224.0.0.1 - Correct version information in about info

Really like the app but having issues sending from phone otherwise it's great, may be just a setting is wrong or because it's a newer phone s10. If I can get the send from phone function working I'll give 5 stars as I look forward to the updates.

This is a really nice first release. It's good, solid, and stable. It lets you type to someone you're in communication with and see what they send back. The current version doesn't allow anything but that. So you must start your conversation and end it on the device that JSA remote is talking to. I can't wait to see what the following releases provide.

Unable to connect to radio nor even open settings to set up. Most function buttons open a text message about a multicast using an IP address, which makes the app completely useless and impossible to set up. Why would I use a radio on a network for a phone app? If I had Flex Radio money, I wouldn't be using an app to port into it.

Android 9 with JS8Call running on Ubuntu 20.04LTS. No text received on screen and text entered on phone goes nowhere. Freq/tone never populated but red button is green and send area turns red when laptop is transmitting? Fonts?? 73 K1TWH
