Lantern

Lantern is a calm, dignified daily orientation app for people living with dementia, built together with their carers.

Each day opens with one simple screen — the day, the date, the time of day, and today's plan — so a person always knows where they are in their day. Carers set gentle reminders and appointments, and can check in from a distance to see how the day is going.

What's in Lantern:
• Today — day, date, time of day and a simple plan for what's coming
• Reminders for appointments and daily routines, set by a carer
• A shared calendar for appointments, including repeating ones
• Optional, consented location sharing so a carer knows their person is safe
• Works for one carer or several, all seeing the same circle

Lantern has no adverts, no trackers and no in-app purchases. It was built by Sentrixa, a UK company, with input from carers and the people they support.

Location sharing is optional, switched on only with explicit consent, and can be turned off at any time — see our privacy policy for the full detail.

Recent changes:
Location sharing now starts with a clear explanation: what is shared, who can see it, how long it is kept, and that it carries on when the app is closed. Nothing is switched on until you tap "Agree and turn on", and you can say "No thanks".
