Description
The app allows for the purchase of "Localyte cards," which may be redeemed at participating small and local businesses. These cards function as both gift cards and store cards, which the consumer can use to purchase goods and services from the merchants. The merchants may use the cards for promotional discounts or loyalty programs. Unlike community cards and other open loop card solutions, the funds are NOT stored in an escrow account. The proceeds go directly to the merchant at the time of purchase, creating immediate cash flow for them during the economic downturn from the pandemic.
All purchased store cards are displayed in one place, avoiding the need for multiple apps. A single QR code is used to redeem all Localyte cards, which avoids the need to find the correct QR code for each merchant. The merchant will scan the QR code to complete the redemption transaction.
The app may be linked to a credit card to easily purchase store cards. The payment method can be saved (and removed if needed) to avoid having to re-enter credit card information for each purchase.
