Loudlog: Decibel Sound Meter

Know how loud it really is, and be able to show it.

Loudlog is a decibel meter, noise meter and noise log for your phone. Check a room in seconds, or leave the phone by the bed overnight and wake up to a timeline of every loud moment. For a noise complaint about a neighbour, a bar or traffic, turn the night into a dated report for your landlord or council.

LIVE METER
• A clear sound level meter with A, C and Z frequency weighting.
• Fast or Slow response, Leq, Min, Max and C-weighted peak, plus L10 and L90.
• A big analog gauge and a 60 s chart.
• A "sounds like" line: library, conversation, traffic.
Use it as a quick db meter, an spl meter for rehearsals, a noise detector at work or a decibel reader for nursery noise.

CALIBRATE IN ONE TAP
Phone microphones differ. Match a reference sound level meter or a known level in one step, or enter a fixed offset. The calibration is saved per phone model and per input: built-in, wired, USB or Bluetooth microphone. Calibrate for best accuracy.

NOISE LOG
Start a log and turn the screen off. A permanent notification shows while Loudlog measures, with a Stop button.
• One level per second (A-weighted Leq and maximum).
• Events: above your threshold for a minimum time, by default 55 dB(A) for 3 seconds.
• A timeline per minute with the threshold and every event marked.
• An Hours tab with Leq, L10, L90, Lmax and events for each hour, and an Events tab.
• Quiet hours (Pro): a lower threshold at night, by default 22:00–07:00 at 45 dB(A), shaded on charts and in the report.
• Event clips (Pro, opt-in): 10 seconds of sound around each event, kept on your phone and playable in the app, so you can hear what it was.
If the system stops a log to save battery, Loudlog helps you fix the battery setting.

EVIDENCE REPORT
Export any log as a CSV file with one row per second. With Pro, create a dated PDF report with your place or title label, the date range, the device, weighting, calibration date and event rule, a summary of Leq, L10, L90, Lmax, Lmin and events, the night chart, an hour-by-hour table and the event table. Share it through the usual Android share sheet, by email or in a message.

HEARING SAFETY
With Pro, Loudlog tracks today's noise dose by the NIOSH rule (85 dB(A), 3 dB exchange) and the OSHA rule (90 dB(A), 5 dB), shows how much time is left at the current level, and sends an alert after a minute at 85 dB(A) or more. A home-screen widget shows the latest Leq. Guidance only, not medical advice.

FREQUENCY VIEW
A live spectrum (4096-point FFT) shows the strongest frequency, for example 62 Hz with a low-hum hint, to help find a fridge, ventilation or mains hum. 1/1 and 1/3 octave bands are part of Pro.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Levels are computed on the phone. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Audio is kept only for the event clips you turn on, and they stay on your phone.

ACCURACY NOTE
Phones are not certified sound level meters, and every value is an estimate. Accuracy depends on the phone, its microphone and its calibration. Loudlog states this on every report.

INCLUDED WITHOUT PRO
The live meter, calibration, the 60 s chart, noise logs up to 1 hour, the newest 3 logs, CSV export of a 1-hour log and the live frequency view. There is a banner on the log list only, never on the live meter or while logging, and an occasional full-screen ad on the log list after an export. Watch a short video for one free PDF report.
