I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I have used this app on several Android phones, and it has proved more reliable than the usual 2FA SMS method of authentication that other banks use, especially if you are overseas and cannot receive SMS due to no roaming. Downside are that it even asks for authentication on transfers between my own accounts which I find very silly. At the very least it should only be to external transfers or purchases. Even so, much better than other banks.

Have read all the bad reports here, but here is what has happened to me December 2025. I have a Macquarie account. I logged into it on my laptop. I installed the Macquarie Authenticator on my phone. The Macquarie Auth told me to invent a 6 digit pin. Today I transferred some money from my Macquarie account to another person. I got a notification on my phone and opened it up. The Authenticator then asked me to resupply the six digit pin chosen earlier, then the funds transfer went through ok.

No step-by-step instructions for oldies like me who isn't phone savvy with jargon like "push' instructions etc. The video just shows happy customers waving their hands about Why do you need a mobile to bank with Macquarie anyway? Don't PCs work anymore?

I don't want to install another app on my phone just to get your own personalized authenticator. Combine it into the main app if you must.
