You cannot see when an app opens your microphone. That is the whole problem.

Microphone and Camera Blocker puts a shield between your sensors and the apps that reach for them. One tap holds your microphone and both cameras, so anything running in the background finds them already taken. No guessing, no trusting, no wondering what that app was doing while it sat there minimised.

ONE TAP, BOTH SENSORS

The shield goes on and off with a single control. While it is on, the app holds your microphone and both the front and rear cameras. An app that tries to record in the background does not get your voice. An app that tries to open a camera does not get a picture.

This was measured, not assumed. With the shield on, a background recording came back at an audio level of 0.0, which is silence. With it off, the same recording came back at 180.5. Android's own camera service lists this app as the client holding both cameras while the shield is up.

SEE WHO CAN HEAR AND SEE YOU

Before you block anything, look at what you already granted. The app lists every installed app that holds microphone or camera permission, so the question stops being theoretical. Most people find at least one they do not remember approving.

WHAT IT BLOCKS, AND WHAT IT CANNOT

This section is here because you deserve to know before you install, not after.

It blocks apps in the background. That is the real threat and that is what it stops.

It is not a hardware switch. It cannot cut power to the microphone or the camera, because no app on Android can. Anyone claiming otherwise is selling you something that does not exist.

It cannot block the app you are actively using. If you open a camera app yourself, that is you choosing to use the camera.

It cannot override system level or privileged apps that sit below the level any normal app can reach.

If you want a guarantee at the hardware level, the honest answer is a physical cover and turning the phone off. This app is for everything short of that, which is most of what actually worries people.

RULES

Set the shield to manage itself instead of remembering to tap it. Rules let the shield turn on and off on its own, so the protection is there when you want it and out of the way when you do not.

THE ACTIVITY LIST

The app keeps a record of what happened and when, so you can look back at it instead of wondering. Nothing about that record leaves your phone.

REACH IT WITHOUT OPENING THE APP

The shield is available without digging through the app first, because protection you have to go looking for is protection you will forget to use.

PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION

This app ships without the internet permission. Not disabled, not optional, simply not in the app. Android itself blocks every network connection it could attempt.

That is not a promise about our intentions. It is a restriction the operating system enforces on us, and you can verify it yourself in your phone's app info screen. Every app claims to respect your privacy. Very few can point to something the system stops them doing.

There is no account, no sign in, and no analytics. Nothing is collected because nothing can be sent.

PERMISSIONS

Microphone, because holding the microphone is how the shield keeps other apps out of it.

Camera, for the same reason, on both the front and rear cameras.

The app uses these permissions to occupy the sensors, not to record you. It has no way to send anything anywhere.
